FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (March 23, 2020) — The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) is asking anyone who is considering visiting the Incline Village or Crystal Bay area to reschedule their visit. As a small and remote mountain-lake community, the healthcare, support services, and facilities lack the capacity and resources to handle an outbreak of COVID-19.
“Our visitors are an important part of our community, but sadly, to protect our community and prevent a medical crisis, we’re respectfully asking travelers to please visit when this pandemic is over,” said Indra Winquest, Interim General Manager.
IVGID has taken several actions, such as temporarily closing its community services facilities, ending the ski season early at Diamond Peak Ski Resort, and allowing a limited amount of critically-identified staff to transition to home-officing. These actions support efforts to decrease the opportunity for COVID-19 transmission.
“We want visitors to know that they can help our community by temporarily staying away,” Winquest said. “The natural beauty and serenity of the Lake Tahoe Basin will be here to welcome you back again. Be hopeful, stay home, and stay healthy.”
